After ignoring Hagrid’s instructions and getting a minor injury from Buckbeak, he uses his father’s political and social power to try to ruin Hagrid’s life by getting him fired.Draco really was more about talking big than actually backing it up, and I think part of why he didn't want to confirm Harry's identity (even though I'm 100% he recognized him) is because he would essentially have condemned him to die by saying "yes, that's him".Why Draco didn't tell Bellatrix it was Harry in the mansion and why they were going to have him run to help after Harry was alive again in DH Pt. 2. I think the only reason that Draco ran to Harry and lied to Bellatrix wasn't that Draco liked Harry or whatever, I think it was because Potter was his only hope left of escaping this life of lies ... .
